Board Governance
In May 2011, Beamsville Medical Centre Family Health Team (BMCFHT) was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization, governed by a Board of Directors (BOD). Since its inception, the BOD has been composed solely of Family Health Network (FHN) physicians. On September 8, 2011, the BOD approved the organization’s By-Laws, which state that the Board will consist of nine voting FHN Physician Directors.
The Board of Directors are required to exercise their authority in accordance with applicable legislation, the Corporation’s Letters Patent, approved By-Laws, adopted governance policies, and relevant common law principles. The BOD is ultimately responsible for overseeing the governance and management of the Corporation’s affairs, as well as for all actions taken in the Corporation’s name. Specifically, the BOD is tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Planning
- Policy Development
- Performance Monitoring
- Performance Management
The Executive Director and Lead Physician of Beamsville Medical Centre Family Health Team report directly to the Board of Directors.
