Nurse Practitioner:

Gillian Ryan A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced university education who provides personalized, quality health care to patients.  Gillian is able to meet with patients in much the same way as your doctor, providing primary care for a variety of issues: acute illnesses, healthy checkups for adult/children/babies, chronic disease management, pre-operative physicals, counselling and education, minor office procedures ( such as IUD insertion), non-narcotic prescription renewals, diagnostic test ordering, and referrals to specialists. Gillian works closely with the physicians of BMC FHT as well as with other members of your health care team to provide exemplary care.  She is able to order some testing and also to write some prescriptions.  Please see the Nurse Practitioners’ Association of Ontario Website

Pharmacist:

Bev (640x640) Beverly Dinning Beverly graduated with honors from the University of British Columbia (UBC) with a Bahcelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc. Pharm) and a Permanent Certificate of Education for the province of British Columbia. Her experience includes community pharmacy, Lecturer in Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, UBC, Assistant Director of Continuing Pharmacy Education for the province of B.C., staff pharmacist for both the Surrey Memorial and Oshawa General Hospitals, IV Implementation Specialist for the Baxter Corporation, Director/Senior Pharmacist for the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, and finally, Pharmacist for the Beamsville Medical Centre FHT. Beverly has a special interest in teaching patients in the proper use of medication using the pharmaceutical care model, which specializes in solving drug-related problems.

Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator:

 Sarah (640x639) Sarah Evason Sarah is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.).  She has a Masters in Health Science from the University of Toronto.  Sarah has been a dietitian for over 15 years and at the Beamsville Medical Centre since 2014.  She offers her skills, knowledge and expertise in helping people achieve their healthy eating goals and manage their health conditions or concerns.

Diabetes Nurse Educator:

 Lori Zwier (640x640) Lori Zwier As a Registered Nurse (R.N.) and Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.), Lori offers counselling based on the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Clinical Practice Guidelines. This provides an opportunity for patients with diabetes to learn how to manage their blood glucose levels via exercise, nutrition, and medication.

Mental Health Therapists (Counselling):

 EFECADC3-D8D0-4FCD-86EE-1AFB38AECAB92F5DB7EA-99B3-433B-85F6-EB21ABB23595 Katharine Somogyvari Baylis  Katharine is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and is a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). She also has a Master of Social Work degree and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Katharine has been in the mental health profession for over 15 year and specializes in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Hypertension Clinic:

Lisa Engel As a Registered Nurse, Lisa manages the BMC Hypertension Clinic by providing education and support of lifestyle changes and behavioural risk factors in combination with regular blood pressure monitoring for patients at risk of/living with hypertension.

Foot Care:

Jim Marando Jim Marando, Chiropodist As a member of the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, Jim offers the services of the Niagara Foot Care Clinic to the patients of the Beamsville Medical Centre Family Health Team.
